A Chat With Angie Hufford

This week I convinced my beautiful wife to sit with me and chat about how we both came into this message at different times. So many couples tell me that this is where they are and what a struggle it is. You’ll enjoy Angie’s perspective of having her husband/pastor suddenly start preaching heresy in the very church she grew up in. Foks assume that we both understood this message at the same time and life was a cake walk from that point on. That’s SO not true:)

It was wonderful to hear Angie, the other half of the fantastic Hufford duo.

I think there’s a feeling among some free believers that a person has to be edgy and rebellious in order to be a free believer. I love that Angie’s story dispels that false notion. Being a free believer isn’t about being rebellious or even anti-anything. It’s about being real and having the freedom to be who you really are. I can relate to Angie’s story in so many ways since I’ve never been rebellious and I’ve had a tendency to just along to please but, as a free believer, I’m learning that it’s okay to be ME and that ME is a pretty neat person.

I have not listen to this podcast yet, but am looking forward to it. I came to this message of Grace about 3 or 4 years ago. At first I wanted so badly for Jan (my wife ) to hear it to, but found out in short order it wasn't that easy. I have come to believe that God has just told me to Love her, and let Him do the work, and for me to just be faithful to Her and to Him, and he will speak His love and truth to Her. I think I see openings little by little as she see's the awful truth of institutional church with it's rules and regulations, and men wanting to have power and to be served, rather than serve. It seems hard to explain to someone else how to live by your heart and not by your head. If anyone can do it, God can. Patiently Standing By.

What an awesome discussion! When I first came into contact with FBN through the Misunderstoond God, I found myself relating to this message of love I had buried in my heart so many years ago. I found I never really fit in the church and tried as I might to follow the rules but this nagging in my heart to be me always portrayed me as rebellious. Later after being "broken down" in a sense, I followed the rules, and in that I relate to much of what Angie had to say. I too did not question some of the rules, and therefore lost who I was too. The tossing back in forth from following the rules because I really wanted to do what was right and the fact that I loved the Lord but my heart was crying out not because I was afraid, but because something didn't fit brought me confusion. I was not angry at God, I just knew I loved Him because I knew Him, but it still left my brain short circuiting. There is so much more, thank you for sharing, I see a little more clearly now to the "why" for me.

I enjoyed this podcast for the content but just a much for the easy and free flowing discussion between two people who obviously care for and love each other. I think Angie is a natural for these podcasts and has a wonderful perspective that we can all benefit from. Of course Darin is okay too :)
