Women tend to be judged based on their suitability as a sex partner. Look up the things people say about Sarah Palin or Elena Kagan. I know that not all men engage in that kind of behavior, but how many comments does it take to destroy a woman’s confidence? A woman who can overcome all that to truly embrace themselves and have that light in their eyes is rare.
What you said about abusive men being intimidated by women who have that light was telling. Women are broadcasting the fact that they are willing to let themselves be a victim. I wish every woman in the world could hear that comment.

This is one of your best conversations! "We are all invisible so it takes a revelation to see a person's beauty". Something to think about for a long time.

I am thinking a lot about this. To me what most women who think they are not beautiful really think is "others will think I am not beautiful therefore I will agree with them". It is really what we think others think and its importance to us that is the key maybe, if that makes sense. Like you could be a whizz mathematician but if you had to keep it secret & nobody else ever saw you work miracles with numbers and everybody thought you dumb at maths what value would you see in your skill? It is not only knowing our own beauty that is at stake but letting it shine, for we seem to be made to not be content until others know what we know about ourselves, or do we need to learn to not care if others do not know? Or do others only see it when we no longer care one way or the other? I suspect we need to be content in ourselves because we cannot control the values of others, b ut that is a hard thing to accept when we are such social beings.

Hey Just Me- I love the way you are thinking through this! Asking and seeking like this can lead you to some beautiful truths :D
Absolutely right on guys! Even the most physically attractive women can be beaten down & drained dry by this world as it is. Look at someone like Marilyn Monroe....
Even when we KNOW and encounter His love for us, there will be battles and tensions from the messages and lies in this world that try to rob us of our true identity. It sure seems like our minds often try to magnify the negatives around us. For me it's a daily, sometimes moment by moment thing of being intentional about practicing God's presence- learning to be still in order to receive the revelation you guys talked about. Finding freedom from religious thinking sure helps us to relax even in the times that being still is more difficult. Some free believers may not like the term "discipline"- but I think it takes being intentional-thinking about God and just enjoying Him.

P.S. After listening and writing the above I opened an email which had the following verse at the top:
"We know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is." 1 JOHN 3:2
This really lined up with the talk- I never read it like that before....now that's a pretty awesome promise to wrap your head around!
Great talk today!
