Aida once mention the same thing in the forum about your podcast that the podcast you two do are not messages but to just get us to think(plus I think for conversation as you mention or maybe that was just from you). So let’s have a discussion on this topic or anyone for that matter.
My horticulture teacher mentioned a few years ago that the older you get the less you worry. I’m 22 right now and I think I have some way to go before I get to that point. In fact I would say that I have a long ways to go before getting to that state. Although since I would be taking and following certain teaching and beliefs I have learn in those philosophy classes as well as the believes I have develop and learn now it’s important I should be steadfast and not let what other people say effect my thoughts and emotions. This is going to be hard.

In the meantime I do know is that worry is human nature. It’s what my friend at DeviantArt told me a few times when we were discussing how I acted and what people were thinking during what happen in September 11, 2001. It wouldn’t be natural if we never became worry in our lives. Plus there are times when we do need to experience fear to get out of danger. I think its matter of just controlling your fears and emotions and not letting them get to you to the point of becoming depressed or breaking down. She also stated this fact at the end of one of her comments which I quote “death could come at any time, so we have to enjoy everyday and not think of the bad things that could happen.” Also from the Apology written by Plato the philosopher Socrates explains that there is no point in fearing death if we have never experience it. It’s a possibility death can be a good thing or not. We won’t know until it happens.

What I have been noticing recently is that one of the reason people are living in worry and fear is because they let what they hear on the news affect them in their personal lives. Now for the most part what the news mentions most of time doesn’t really pertain to us in general and if it does it’s not quite as personal. Lets take the flu for example. It’s a concern over here in Virginia as well but it’s something I never think about nor pay too much attention about (in fact I wasn’t thinking about it until you brought it up in this podcast). This is because it’s not, nor has it so far, affected my personal life and this year is no different. I don’t think it even has affected the people I know in life. The same can be said about the economy (though I hate bringing this up because it’s an topic I’m tired of hearing).

Personally financially I am content. I work in a nice job where I have made a lot of friends and where I can choose how many hours and days I work. Plus I make enough money to satisfy myself at least for someone who still lives wit is parents (heck even my boss says I make more money for someone who lives with his parents. However I want to make clear that I don’t leech on my parents and do work to help out in the house). Anyway I have in a way been lay off but I don’t know if I would call it you’re usually lay off. It actually went by well with my coworkers and boss giving be this farewell get together and even then I still work in the same place but under a different boss. I guess it was more like a transition.
This leads to another point your brought up Aimi is that the bad things we worry about is usually not as bad as we expect them to be. Plus the fact that some of us have it better than others. I seem to think at times end up in better or not as worse situations as others do.

Also this reminds me of the two assignments I had to do for my two classes. One wasn’t complete and the other also wasn’t complete but did not meet the page count. I had to turn in both so I can at least get some grade but I was worry of what my teachers world say about it (as well as just be making myself feel shame for not completing my paper) but it turn out that I got a good grad on both papers and one of my teachers like the idea I was writing my own topic and going against both views instead of choosing one or the other (this paper I am referring is on Animal Rights the other one that met the page count was on why it’s wrong to either a pessimistic or optimistic view of the world).

Another example would be rides in theme parks. People like myself are usually scare to ride on one of the fast ones until we try it ourselves. Then it turns out be not so bad (though there was one time I got sick from accidentally riding on the upside down roller coasters but that was my fault for not sitting straight and just letting everything flow like the surfers do during surfing).
That is just about all I have to say. I also have a couple of friends who are enjoying their live s for the most part. One of my friends who is from Singapore for example seems to be enjoying his life in Singapore from what he implies (it seems like he really likes it over there).

It is true the older you get the less you worry. I think you just realize worry is a waste of time and it will all work out. I think I mentioned in the podcast, but if not I'll give the example. Robert and I have had seven pregnancy's, we have four children and we lost three. We had some scary moments during our pregnancy's and our youngest has had some scary health issues. From the immediate viewpoint that sucks, but we and our children have gained something in our hearts that we wouldn't otherwise have. What seems like a very damaging situation has really strengthened us as people. I've said many times this really sucks for us and our kids and I mean it, but at the same time I'm saying our kids are going to have great hearts.
Weather or not life turns out better or worse than those around you I think people should enjoy living life and stop worrying about everything.

Joshquinn, what I found is that the more you drink the less you worry. This theory would imply that as you get older you consume more beer. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

@Amy Ramos: Yeah you mention that example in the podcast.
Worry is waist of time and it's because of this I chose I am not going to worry so much about things not concerning my personal life. It's going to take while to get my entire self to mature but at least the fact I realize this is a start.
If people were only concern more about their personal lives instead of events that have little or none to deal with them people would not be worrying so much.

Good analogy! ^_^ That makes perfect since. As people get drunk their worries begin to wash away. It implies the same with age. I don't think I mention this but knowledge have something to do with it as well. Usually the more we know the less we worry. Knowledge and age seem to go hand in hand when it comes to becoming less worry.

To Darrin and Amy - I just wanted you to know that is was the most amazing podcast you have done to date - even though all your podcasts are remarkable. Most "leaders" never talk about their struggles. Makes them too human. But the honesty you have shared, comforted my heart and helped me see beyond my personal perspective of the junk we face everyday. I listened to this podcast over and over again, and each time, I learn more of the truth dealing with worry. I used to listen to talk radio to fall asleep - now I listen to your voices, teaching me more and more about the love of God. What a blessing all of you are! You may not know, this side of heaven, how much you have inspired changes in the false thinking a lot of us have been taught. I feel so blessed to have found your network of free believers. Thank You from the bottom of my wounded heart, that is now in the process of being healed! :)
