MIDWEEK - Misconceptions About the Bible part 4

bibleDarin and Robert enter into a discussion about Christians and the modern day teachings on the bible. This is an open discussion with no rules. Anything can be asked and all opinions and feelings about the topic are be voiced unashamedly. This is perhaps one of the most open and radical “Into the Wild” shows that’s been recorded to date. We encourage you to send this to your friends who are struggling with the same questions. Many Christians in our world today and severely oppressed by the churches teachings on the bible’s role in their life. This is perhaps the most abused and abusive topic in the Christian world today.

I am absolutely loving this conversation and I'm so glad it hasn't ended yet. People are in such bondage because of false teachings regarding the Bible and I'm glad you've decided to not let this one go. Even when people stop the daily Bible readings, there's still a lot of guilt they experience and they need to know that it's okay. Freedom is there but it is a process of continually living in the truth.

I agree, Aiada. Thanks guys for continuing this topic. It's been one of the most valuable and most challenging for me to deal with. It's allowed me to hear what God is trying to tell me right now without getting bogged down with legalistic scripture interpretations. You guys are freakin awesome!!!

I really really loved listening to Darin and Robert on this podcast. Robert mentioned a verse from a few pod casts ago that seems to capture the attitude within the Free believers and it's from the love chapter 1 cor 13 at the end where it says...we see through a glass darkly and we prophecy in part, know in part... but in the end we will see Him face to face.... I so love knowing real people that aren't afraid to say what they don't know... and can really witness about God in an honest way... I know I went through a transition in my heart of hearts when I simply demanded the truth or something real and the was the beginning of an amazing "real" journey with the "person" of Jesus that I encountered... when people honestly want to know the truth they will find it... Thanks again guys.

As I am listening to the guys where they are talking about 'witnessing' what has been witnessed and not just regurgitating memorized scripture, it reminds me of a conversation I had recently with the director of our local crisis pregnancy center. I was being slightly chastised when I told her I didn't like the 'canned' approach when 'witnessing' to our clients. I said I never know how I am going to 'present' Jesus, that I try to listen to the Holy Spirit. I was told that I should use scripture because there is power in the word, that my experiences wouldn't mean as much to a client etc. Wayne Jacobsen has a wonderful podcast about the meaning of the cross...check it out: www.thegodjourney.com and look for "What Really Happened at the Cross?"

I think we're going to stay on this subject for a bit longer. This is really a huge stronghold (I hate that word) for Christians today. If you have any suggestions on areas on this topic that you'd like covered, please send them along.
