Darin and Robert discuss Darin’s recent trip to Huntsville Alabama and how receptive the people were to the message of grace. The conversation turns to the question of whether or not the FULL grace message can be preached without compromise in an institutional setting. Both Darin and Robert come to the conclusion that grace must be grown in soil that is not contaminated with forced doctrine. So many times, well meaning preachers and teachers attempt to dictate when, where and how an individual receives revelation from God. Grace is a revelation that must come from the Holy Spirit in a timing that is perfect for the individual receiving it.

Do you think it is possible to set up a party each week of free believers. Where we would set up a DJ for Christian music and free believers could get together eat, drink, and be merrry and then stand up for the Love message. The grace message and the message we spread. I think its possible. Do you feel its possible to do this Darin? Not in a inststitutional setting but as a party setting. Then have a group of people speak and then have Q/A. Rememember with God all good things are possible. It would have to be all volunteered and donated moneys and a spirit of freedom there. Much Love David L Joseph A place where we could get together and fellowship and then grow together outside the structure and formula of Church. Open your heart and think. What if? David Joseph. Maybe not!
Then again i think the wild is the main place i have experienced most of all of my growth in Love. so its a debateable subject. Free believers what do you think. Love all in Freedom David
Huh...?
It may sound drastic but think about how many 'belief' fads have burned through churches like Sherman marching to the sea, leaving nothing standing to sustain life. It has felt strange to just take off into the wilderness to take things on one at a time but those ideas that have survived really mean something to me.
David...that is the general idea of Christianity. Eating, feasting, enjoying relationship and sharing Father's spirit and truths with each other. If I saw that in my neighborhood I would be a part of it.
I really like your Frankenstein word picture. That's exactly right. That's also about how freaky I felt some days, trying to go along with it all. I think no, most people will never get the full grace message by participating in organized church. They are to some degree, in antithesis to one another. "Grace but" is not grace, but that's always what I've heard taught before. The 'but' is what keeps the institution part alive.
Lionwoman you're SOOOO right. Well put. "Grace but is not grace" How brilliant. I'm gonna use that:-)
Great Discussion: Is speaking in an IC service Preaching or Teaching? The common confusion is to call all speaking “preaching”. Preaching is the delivery of a proclamation to the unbeliever; "Jesus is raised from the dead” etc. Rom 10:15. Teaching and testimonies on the other hand are intended to deliver information to educate and edify the saints. Jesus was “anointed to preach” (Luke 4:18). The word there is the common Greek word euaggelizo. It is the word we get “evangelize” from and that is the sole purpose of preaching, to bring the good news to those who have yet to hear it. Acts 15:35. Preaching was never intended for the consumption of the believers. Only teaching and that with dialog.
Two thoughts especially come to mind while listening to this podcast. First, testimonies in church can make the average, struggling believer feel inadequate. I can remember searching my mind for something to share so I would feel like I was okay. Second, even the most well-intentioned church leadership can be compared to a farmer who plants a seed and then won't leave it alone to grow, won't trust the process. He over feeds, over waters, and pulls back the soil to see if it's sprouting. IF it survives, it will be stunted, deformed, and/or fruitless. I'm just thankful that even in the most poisonous religious settings a sincere heart can be reached by God. It's the heart that He seeks.
