Misconceptions On The Bible part 5

bibleDarin and Robert enter into a discussion about Christians and the modern day teachings on the bible. This is an open discussion with no rules. Anything can be asked and all opinions and feelings about the topic are be voiced unashamedly. This is perhaps one of the most open and radical “Into the Wild” shows that’s been recorded to date. We encourage you to send this to your friends who are struggling with the same questions. Many Christians in our world today and severely oppressed by the churches teachings on the bible’s role in their life. This is perhaps the most abused and abusive topic in the Christian world today.

"Christians are whoring themselves after the Bible" WOW Darin. Those are the boldest words I ever heard said regarding Christianity!

Isn't this exactly what was happening with the pharisees.? they had the "scriptures"... but they didn't even recognize Jesus/God when they came face to face with Him. I suppose this is nothing new. I'm realizing more and more that revelation has to come directly from the Holy Spirit to the person truly seeking..

Laurie. This is why Jesus rebuked them saying "You search the scriptures because in them you think you have life."

I think this is a good capsule overview of one of the tenets of of the Bible as an adjunct to the person of God: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_inerrancy#Deductive_justifications Also, what might seem out there and on the edge for evangelicals is probably known territory for those taking a scholastic or historical approach to the scriptures. Anyway check out the Wikipedia entry and see what you think.

Darin asked for some questions / comment so I have a couple. I think elevating the scriptures to be on par with God is a convenient control mechanism. How many times have you been in a conversation with someone about a point of view when they slam dunk you with a Bible quote. It really doesn't matter that it may be totally out of context but it's the equivalent of taking a cold shower when a romantic evening was planned. All conversation ends (or is expected to) because to continue is the same as questioning God. Okay here is one that is a bit off topic but a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche: The "kingdom of Heaven" is a condition of the heart - not something that comes "upon the earth" or "after death." How come many emphasize all about the world to come and not the treasure of now?

I'm a Canuk I find the content in these last five podcasts paralleling issues I've had with employees also. They have taken the schooling and know it well and some are in continued education but seem to have no concept on the actual application of it. I have to still start from the bottom with them. Others who have little education but just good old common sense tend to shine, learn the job quickly, and take up less of my time. I would have to say that as education increases, common sense seems to decrease, even in our Journey with God. Is it because education is so glorified? Thanks for posting these BRAVE podcasts. I commend all on your team. Great Job.

Ian. I think it is both. Paul does say that we have a future hope of Glory. Yet Jesus said the Kingdom of Heaven is here (at hand).

Its like probably became that way because wolves in sheep's clothing used to come in and do a fake spirituality - which problem was controlled by making everything bible-bible - bible . Any way who wouldn't want to read the bible hand over fist when convinced that it is the Word of Jesus.

I think Scarlett is onto something here Darin! "The Misunderstood Bible" would probably rock the IC world more than "The Misunderstood God" has, and that's saying something!

But here's the thing, Russell, 99.99% of all heresy that entered the world came in through people using scripture to back up they're wacked theologies. People stopped listening to their hearts, and thus deafened themselves to the voice of the living God in their lives.

Scarlett and Starla you're probably right. I have a feeling that title would sell pretty well. It would be an interesting project to try to put this podcast series in the form of a book to Christians about the Bible. I'll have to think about that. I actually really like the idea. I was planning on including much of this stuff in my new book I'm working on, but you might be right. It might be better in a book of it's own.

Putting these podcasts into a book is an excellent idea. Many would find freedom in what is being said...so much of it hasn't been voiced or written about before(that I know of). I think so many deep down are hoping to hear these truths and to have this huge burden taken off their backs. For too long these misconceptions have been keeping them from real relationship with their God. I know it did for me.

My son has informed me of the ministry here with Darin Hufford. I have searched on line but find no home base address for the ministry. Not everyone feels comfortable posting things on the web. Is there a home based address for Darin and or the ministry? Though raised Catholic, I find the broadcasts interesting and enlightening and look forward to reading some of the books published by Darin. I see he holds seminars and conferences. Does he have a portion of his ministry that does prison ministry for those unable to see him on the web or in real life? Thx for whatever answers you can give to these questions. plz send answers to TKing1957@aol.com
