Darin and Aimee talk about the plague of a low self image that so many Christians struggle with on a daily basis. We all have a vague, impossible to reach picture of what we should look like, but we never stop to analyze whether or not that picture is even obtainable or real. With so many teachings in Christianity that praise a low self image it can sometimes be next to impossible to embrace the real self within us without purposefully seeking out imperfections and fault at every turn. Self esteem is EVERYTHING in the journey of life. Breaking free from the rut of self loathing is absolutely essential to living a healthy life in the wild.

Hi! I feel that even as a child is born into the world and grows naturally so I believe that we a new born believer grows naturally. For Love will complete the work that Love has begun in us. Bible says that.
Whose responsibility is growth anyway? The gardener. Using Christ's analogy of the vine, it is our job to abide in Him (that is be loved by Him, living connected to Him, out of the knowledge of His love for us) It is HIS job as the vine dresser to prune us, grow us, and make us bear fruit. You never hear in a garden, plants grunting, straining, worrying or discussing how to grow more effectively, or charting their growth rate in light of others. They just enjoy the sun and the rain, and the care of the gardener. Again, guys, great podcast.
For some reason when I finally quit doing the IC thing (sunday morning ritual, quiet times in the morning,20 minutes in the "word",mid-week bible studies, teaching sunday school, parking lot duty, worrying if I should be an overseas missionary because I am single,10% of my wallet, reading the lastest christian book covering the lastest spritual thing, running to the lastest in-depth bible study, and on and on and on and on and on did I realize that I had been given FREEDOM!!!!!!! Only then did I realize that I had become pocessed by legalism. So now I call myself a recovering legalist and take a shot of grace everyday. If I do read the bible its in galations.I have been stuck there for the last eight years. Oh well!!!!!
It is funny, thats exactly what I try to explain to a friend...and it seems that she just does not get it. She constantly asks if its a bad thing to pursue change/growth, more as a rethorical question. Religion makes people so blind it seems. My friend tells me that she is not pursuing change out of discontentment, but in the same line she states that if she rests on her lazy ego she gets uncontent when she does not pursue change...I hope one day she and many more will see how fun life can be without the constant quest for change and growth.
David Joseph - That is a great quote. Where in the bible is that?
Daniel...I saw your question so I'm jumping in. It's Philippians 1:6. (one of my faves) It's like saying "He didn't bring you this far to shove you off the end of the table".
