This has been running around in my heart for the past couple weeks. probably months. Being who you are-wow. This also reminds me of a lecture that I heard from N.T. Wright-he was talking about humans being made in the image of God. This is amazing stuff. =D

Wow, serendipitous! It's amazing how true truth is truly known :-) I was just talking to God today about how our laws are so heavily influenced by protestant moralism and how condemned I was feeling both by secular law and twinges of the calvanism of my youth he said to me, you know, I don't care about the law, break as many of them as you want... I care about the people, those that break the law and those that enforce it because in the end none of it matters. It's all dieing anyway. It's not about the law it's about love and grace, amazing that you guys are talking about this too.

2 years ago I would have thought you guys are nuts for this podcast, but now I can understand what you are saying. I speak for myself and say I don't want to "sin". Not that it separates me from God or because it is a law, but because I really don't want to. I am not perfect. I drop the EFF bomb when I drop something on my foot, I say and do things that church people would consider sinful, I throw down a couple beers with the fellas, but there is NOTHING in me that wants to just run out and commit debauchery and live loose. Why? Christ lives within me, common sense, and I love my wife and kids with all my heart. Not because some moral code says not to. There are also things that are socially unacceptable and offensive to others that I consider when it comes to "bad" language. There is a time and place for that. Like pheasant hunting with the guys. Common sense.

Basically, what I am trying to say is what Darin and Robert said in the last 10 minutes of the podcast. It is a state of being who you are and living out of the heart and not the rule book. This is very rich stuff guys. Love it.

Just as every marriage is different each of our relationships with God are different. There is no set of rules that work in all cases.
I request that you allow me to have my relationship with God and I must allow you to have your relationship.
We typically create and support laws for other people.
I will let you and you let me be Lawless.

As a child your were told not to go out into the street. Now we walk into the street whenever we want or need. As we mature the laws that applied to us as children no longer apply.

Another great podcast! I have been learning and allowing myself the place to be human! For so long in the IC I think we work at being spiritual that we totally loose sight that Christ became flesh, a man. And yes than whatever grace we started in becomes law....yuk! I love what you said The law of law is not obedience to a set of rules but being who you were created to be. Awesome!

Peterc, I totally agree with this comment: "Just as every marriage is different each of our relationships with God are different. There is no set of rules that work in all cases." If I remember correctly, the laws were created because the people wanted them. We don't want/need the laws because we have grace and we understand that we don't need the laws.
