Re: God Has an Amazing Plan for Your Life

Very well put. I was not part of a charismatic church but the same "God has a wonderful plan for your life" teaching was in my church too. It created expectations that were never fulfilled and that led to a huge sense of failure. I had to learn that it was the teaching that was wrong. Alth...

Re: What I Miss About Church

Very interesting. Lots to think about. Just curious about the baptism in the Spirit changing your life. I come from a non-charismatic background (or should I say anti-charismatic) but have found much in common with your church experience.

Re: Failing successfully

I guess I am content to do and be the best I can with what strengths and opportunities I do have. I suppose some would say "increase your strength and make opportunities". That kind of endless dissatisfaction with who I am now, today, causes enormous stress for me. I am not anybody's idea ...

Re: Failing successfully

Good thoughts Jeff. Just thought that the Trump quote was, just as it said, about succeeding in business. Applying it in a different definition of success is interesting (not that I think Trump meant it differently)! I am interested in the definition of success according to God. I haven't thought mu...

Re: Failing successfully

I think there is a bit of a culture that justifies ignoring the Lazarus at our gate by saying he didn't try hard enough to succeed or his situation is His own fault. Don't get me wrong; I applaud the concept of keeping on trying again and trying different things. But sometimes the fact is that nothi...

Re: "Trump 2016"

People love to blame others suffering misfortune as if they somehow deserve their suffering. This often comes from any viewpoint; while being a common reaction among Christians of all persuasions, it is just as common outside Christian thinking. It reflects the sad lack of empathy in so many people....

Re: "Trump 2016"

Sorry but I think Trump is a force for darkness himself! None of my business though because I am not American. Mind you I predict world changing effects and not mostly for the better. That is just me. Not a special prophecy or anything.

Re: "Trump 2016"

I do believe in coincidence that doesn't really mean anything. People predict all sorts of things so there is a chance some of the myriads and myriads of predictions will come true! (We are not inclined to notice or read anything into the ones that don't!) Not to say God didn't speak to that guy for...

Re: That voice in my head....

You are lucky. Enjoy it. I suspect you don't have to explain it for it to be so. Lots of things are unique to each person's journey and work despite being inexplicable.

Re: Hi! My name is...

Thank you for your reply Jeff. Very inspiring. I believe my faith has changed a lot as I process my family issues. My two sons both have paranoid schizophrenia. (They are not violent criminals, which is often painted by the media as what you expect with schizophrenia, but kind, gentle, loving people...

Re: Hi! My name is...

Good to see you back Jeff. Sorry to hear about your grandson. That is so difficult. I am sorry to ask and I don't mind if you tell me to mind my own business, but how do you process all that in your relationship with God? I think you will remember me posting about how I believe God weeps with us and...

Re: Trusting God - My Journey

Hi Aida and Jeff Good to see you folks are back. Been a while, during which I have checked regularly for some activity! I have this idea about trusting God meaning that He weeps with me when really sad, destructive, hurtful things happen. They aren't necessarily good for me in any way but they are p...

Re: Podcast Discussion: The Price of Principle Living

I think we have to be careful about living by the principle that fear is wrong. We then become afraid of fear itself. It was given to keep us and ours safe. Can we own our fear and admit it without feeling we are doing something wrong? If you have had a lot of suffering you can have good reason to b...

Re: Walking and Trusting

People take a giant leap and read into 2Timothy 3:16 that this proves that the bible is the word of God. This passage could not refer to the New Treatment as it wasn't compiled when Timothy was written. The scriptures referred to are not a collection of books we have today. Some versions say "a...
