Re: Failing successfully

I think an important thing to me when discussing failure is to ponder what is success. I am not interested in bashing business competition or making a lot of money ala Trump. Not that those things are %100 evil, if done legally and ethically. I am not interested in having the greatest career if it w...

Re: "Trump 2016"

I understand that it seems unlikely there would be a massive change in our society, or the human race itself. I think that for me the point isn't the numbers. I can't make everyone do the right thing. I have some control over myself though. And individuals can make choices. Even if it were hopeless ...

Re: "Trump 2016"

I think Trump is a man without a foundation. At least not a rational one that leads to positive ideas and plans. I believe the best response would be for people to react to what he says by being better. In America, for instance, for more and more of the population to choose to come to know one anoth...

Re: Hi! My name is...

It has been something to ponder with my grandson. Different things I have concluded or thought of as possibilities. One thing is that we almost can't help but rate the people we see and are around on a scale of our making. In a case like that my grandson would be pretty low. He is not a great intell...

Re: Hi! My name is...

Thank you. My impression of you was one of an honest person who was genuinely open to pondering things. I hope you are well. For the most part I am. One of our five grandchildren,James, is in the hospital right now. He was born with a genetic disorder called Kleefstra's Syndrome. It is similar to Do...

Re: Hi! My name is...

If I ever find myself being especially irritating I plan on kicking myself out. I would like to hear from old and new folks. By the way, I sent you an email to an address I got via the link here, "forgettingtheformerthings@yahoo.com I was wondering if you got that. I has a family picture I am k...

Re: "Trump 2016"

I must admit I was surprised last night. It seemed that the major network analysts were as well. At least the ones who were not republican strategists. I am not a fan of Donald Trump. I was not wild about the idea of Hillary Clinton either, though it is not because of her gender. I kind of liked Kas...

Re: Trusting God - My Journey

Well said Jac.
There is something deeply significant in the scene at Lazarus' tomb in that Christ wept, though He also had complete power and authority to undo this man's suffering and death.
So we can trust that at the least He weeps with us. And He may just at times do more.

Re: Hi! My name is...

I was concerned that my old moniker gave the impression of someone aggressive, and reminded me also of the "bull in a china closet" saying. I can argue and debate pretty aggressively if I don't watch myself. So I thought a change to a more reasonable handle for myself might serve as a remi...

Re: "Trump 2016"

I know a good number of missionaries who for all intents and purposes have given up life in the USA for that of third world countries. Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Mali. Anyway, political powers, economics, danger etc that cause many Americans to quake or at least get really agitated and concerned are noth...

Re: Trusting God - My Journey

No. The hurricane was of no consequence in Maryland. I am about 10 miles in a straight line from the Chesapeake Bay. The worst that usually happens in Maryland from hurricanes is when they come up the bay and cause a lot of flood damage. Though a few times we have gone without electric and were stuc...

Re: Hi! My name is...

Hello. I am Jeff of Hydes. Though I rarely refer to myself that way. My name is really Jeff, and I live in Hydes a little farming area of Maryland with a post office the size of a small shed. I used to be here under the name "Bull of the Woods" but came to be banished. "Bull of the Wo...

Re: "Trump 2016"

It seems to be a good time to trust God, especially the person of Christ, in light of the fact that politicians will never match Him in trustworthiness. It is normal to be worried and concerned under the circumstances of this campaign season. And all the other dark things in our world. As I said it ...

Re: Trusting God - My Journey

I trust God. I see in what I believe I can intellectually affirm or begin to grasp of Him, and experientially have seen Him affirm of Himself is He is faithful, gracious, and loving towards me. I know Him, but certainly do not think I know Him extremely well, not enough to say, "I know exactly ...
