Identity...so true. Have long thought much of the OT was for their sake; and because of where they were at the time. We want a king. Okay, won't turn out the way you think, but go ahead! God has always worked with where folk were at or thought they should be - and once it all comes up empty - they are open to receive, and ask the deeper questions, not the clowny ones. When it's group over identity the members get worn out and that's where they are open. External validation only lasts so long doesn't it? I think we organically grow to a point of expansion, as the season changes we move into it.
